One of Waitrose’s most distinctive supermarkets is set to host a street party to celebrate its reopening.
Waitrose John Barnes in Finchley Road closed on July 7 for major refurbishment works.
The supermarket has confirmed that it will welcome customers again next Wednesday (August 21).
To celebrate its reopening, the store plans to throw a street party – with live music, face painting, and giveaways on site.
The first 50 customers who visit Waitrose John Barnes next week will be presented with ‘golden tickets’ worth £50 to spend instore.
The new look supermarket will include a revamped bakery, a fully chilled beer, wine and spirits department, a made-in-branch baguette station, a hot chicken and salad counter and a “dedicated parmesan bay”.
John Barnes will also be the first Waitrose store to have a hot wok counter, serving ready-to-go meals to customers.
Crosstown Doughnuts, a bakery with 11 shops and stalls across London, will also have its first instore offering at John Barnes.
Samples for doughnut aficionados will be available on opening day, with exclusive flavours including matcha and white chocolate.
A variety of refreshments will also be on offer, ranging from Espresso Martinis to Pina Colada mocktails.
The Finchley Road store has been described as Waitrose’s second trial for new concepts, after the supermarket in Sudbury.
