A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a cement mixer.

Emergency services were called to Parkhurst Road, in Holloway, Islington, just before 2pm on Tuesday (August 27).

London Fire Brigade said a motorcyclist and a lorry had collided.

One man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first of our crews arrived at the scene in three minutes.

“Our crews treated a man at the scene, before taking him to a London major trauma centre by road.”

Parkhurst Road was closed in both directions for several hours. 

Bus routes including numbers 17, 21, 29, 91, 253, 254, 259, and 393 were diverted.

Two fire engines from Stoke Newington and Holloway Fire Stations and a Fire Rescue Unit from Islington Fire Station were sent to the scene which was over for crews at 2.43pm.
