Police are appealing for an elderly woman whose purse was stolen by pickpocketers in Bromley to come forward.

A woman, believed to be between her 70s and 80s, had her purse stolen “by means of pickpocketing” outside the Bromley High Street exit of M&S yesterday (September 6) at around 1:25pm in the afternoon.

The woman is described by police as white, aged between 75 and 80 years, wearing a cream coat, black trousers and white shoes and using a walking frame.

She was also carrying a beige shoulder bag and M&S carrier bag at the time of the incident.

One suspect has been arrested and currently remains in police custody.

Police are urging the victim or relative or friend of the person to come forward by contacting police on 101 quoting the crime reference 01/810190/24.

In a statement on X, MPS Bromley wrote: “Today 06/09/2024 at approximately 1:25pm an elderly female had her purse stolen by means of pick pocket whilst standing at the High Street entrance of M&S.

“She is described as a white female, approximately 75-80 years of age, wearing a long cream coat, black trousers and white shoes, she was using a black walking frame and carrying a beige shoulder bag. She was also carrying an M&S carrier bag.

“PLEASE SHARE to help us identify her, the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody.

“Please can the victim or relative/friend of the victim contact police via 101 quoting Crime Reference: 01/810190/24.”
