Police have confirmed a man who died after a crash near the Dartford Crossing was a pedestrian standing on the hard shoulder of the M25.

The incident between a lorry and two pedestrians happened between J29 and J30 just before 4am yesterday (September 8).

Officers and London Ambulance Service were called to the scene attended and found two men injured.

One of the men, with no further details, was pronounced dead shortly after.

The second man was taken to hospital where his condition is currently unknown.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

Road closures were put in place as the incident was dealt with but it has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to the scene of a collision between a lorry and pedestrians stood on the hard shoulder of the M25 clockwise between J29 and J30 on Sunday 8 September at 03:56hrs.
“Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service paramedics and treated two men.

“Despite their best efforts one of the men- no further details- died at the scene.

“Road closures are in place as police carry out enquiries.
“No arrests have been made.

“Any witnesses or those with dash cam footage are asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 1299/08SEP.”
