A person is in hospital following an early morning fire at a house in Rainham.
Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were called at 4.46am today (September 17) with reports of a fire at a mid-terraced house in Upminster Road South.
Around 20 firefighters in three fire engines were dispatched to the scene from stations in Wennington and Dagenham.
At the scene, seven people were found outside having safely escaped the fire.
A section of the ground floor was damaged in the blaze that took firefighters until 5.37am to extinguish.
One person was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service (LAS) paramedics who were called to Sunningdale Avenue, which is a side road off of Upminster Road South.
A spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.50am today (17 September) to reports of a fire on Sunningdale Avenue, Rainham.

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulances crews, a paramedic in a fast response car and members of our hazardous area response team (HART).
“We assessed seven patients at the scene and took one patient to hospital.”
The cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed.
