Havering Small Business Awards 2024 winners revealed

Havering Council hosted its annual Small Business Awards on September 11, where it handed out 11 accolades, including best business of the year. 

This year's awards introduced a change in procedure, with businesses nominating themselves and the public casting their votes to choose the finalists.

More than 8,400 votes were received, helping decide the top three finalists for each of the ten categories. 

Havering Council leader Ray Morgon said: “Congratulations to all the winners and nominees who demonstrate the dynamic and vibrant nature of Havering's small business landscape. You truly represent the very best that Havering has to offer.”

Jungle Hair and Beauty in Romford was named as the best newcomer of the year, after it opened in June 2023 and has been operating for less than a year. 

Paul Perfect Heating Ltd was named as the winner of the best tradesperson award (Image: Havering Council) The best small or independent business award was won by Wags and Scruffs Dog Services in Collier Row. 

The Hair Lounge in Hornchurch was named as the best beauty or service business and Fat Pizza in Elm Park was given the award for the best takeaway. 

Fat Pizza won the best takeaway award (Image: Havering Council) The Hop Inn in Hornchurch was presented with the best hospitality business award whilst Paul Perfect Heating Ltd in Collier Row was handed the best tradesperson award. 

The business offering the best customer experience was Maa Eyecare in Upminster, with the best shopfront award going to Flower Perfections in Upminster.

This year's small business awards featured a new award category of the best sustainable business.

The award was won by Folly London Millinery in Upminster, which was also named as Havering's small business of the year after being selected by the judging panel.
