An empanada restaurant offering a taste of Argentina is set to open its third London outlet.

De Nadas, self-described as the UK’s first ‘empanadería’, launched in Notting Hill’s Golborne Road two years ago.

Last year, a second shop in Shoreditch’s Rivington Street opened – and the empanada specialist now has its eyes on Stoke Newington.

Located in Stoke Newington Church Street, the new 20-seater restaurant will be ready to take orders from Thursday evening (September 19).

The first 300 customers who turn up from 6pm will be given a free empanada – with 25 tickets also available for a preview event led by Stoke Newington historian Amir Dotan.

He will share the story of the shop, including the different businesses which have occupied number 117 since the 1860s.

Amir said: “It’s exciting to see the latest shop to come to this building after its long history.

“De Nadas is certainly the first Argentinian business to open on Church Street, and Stoke Newington as a whole as far as I’m aware.”

During work to refurbish the shop, green and blue tiles were discovered dating back to the early 19th Century – some of which will now be displayed in the restaurant.

De Nadas offers over 15 empanada varieties with meat, vegetarian and plant-based fillings, as well as sweet fillings and special guest empanadas.

The Stoke Newington store will also have a ‘Vinyl Wine Room’, where wine and empanada tastings can be booked for up to 12 people.
