A menu with your all-time Japanese favourites, those Italian classics that hit the cravings, in a top setting on one of London’s most prestigious streets.
Sumosan Twiga is the result of a visionary partnership between Japanese restaurant Sumosan and international Italian hospitality brand Twiga.
The restaurant has dual but separate Japanese and Italian menus which cater to all wants, needs and taste buds – making it actually quite difficult to choose between the two – because they both look so good.
My boyfriend and I went for dinner on a Friday evening as the perfect post-working week date night to relax, catch up and eat some really good food.
The way there was actually part of the fun as we drove down Sloane Street, staring into the windows of all the stunning shops and best brands – dreaming and wishing!
Sumosan Twiga rubs shoulders with the likes of Hermes, Prada, Gucci, YSL and more – and it’s the perfect post or pre-shopping fuel.
After much deliberation we decided to order from the Japanese menu and decided to order lots of dishes to share.
My boyfriend had some wagyu tacos and I had fish ones which were a mix of tuna, salmon, seabass and avocado.
I love each type of fish individually and had never really had them mixed, but I really liked the way it all worked.
We had some salmon and avocado sushi, some salmon sashimi and another highlight included the chu-toro sashimi which is a type of fatty, succulent tuna.
The tuna tartare was mixed with avocado and truffle, and the seared salmon came with a lime soy and mustard miso dressing.
The fish was all extremely fresh, and had clearly been expertly paired with each flavour.
We shared a miso black cod, some chargrilled broccoli and some mashed potato for main course and I think this combination might struggle to be beaten.
The smoothness of the fish, the creaminess of the mash and the char of the broccoli went so well together, and despite having enough food to feed an army, we couldn’t get enough of it.
Dessert was another show-stopped with homemade ice cream which came whipped to the nines along with a whopping great big Ferrero Rocher look-a-like.
We were spoilt for choice, our taste buds were spoiled too, and as the night got later a DJ started giving the restaurant a real upbeat vibe.
One of the highlights of my meal might surprise you – and it was actually the glass my cocktail came in.
Isn’t it weird how the glass makes the drink taste so much nicer?! It was a glass elephant and oh-so-adorable.
Fittingly it was the sweet masterpiece called the pink elephant – beluga vodka, elephant gin, tangerine, ginger, zallotti blossom cordial and soda.
Sumosan Twiga is a date night spot, a friends catch up hangout, a place for a little party if you fancy – with two menus of two of the best cuisines.
