A woman has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a house fire in Carshalton.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled the blaze in Pipewell Lane just before 10.50am today (September 19).

Half of the ground floor of the end of terraced house was damaged by the fire.

The woman was rescued from the building by firefighters who were wearing breathing apparatus.

She was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews where her condition is unknown.

The incident was over for firefighters just after 11.20am.

Crews from Mitcham, Sutton, Wimbledon and Twickenham fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at an end of terraced house on Pipewell Road in Carshalton.

“Half of the ground floor was damaged by the fire.

“One woman was rescued from the building by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

“The Brigade was called at 1046 and the incident was over for firefighters at 1122.

“Crews from  Mitcham, Sutton, Wimbledon and Twickenham fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
