A new pub is set to open its doors on Clapham High Street this month - and some lucky punters will get half price food.

The Ox, operated by the team behind the Rose & Crown, will open on Saturday, October 14, following a complete renovation of the former Saxon site.

The venue will feature a main bar, snug, mezzanine restaurant, rooftop terrace, and private events space called The Playroom.

The Ox will offer a modern British menu with Asian influences, focusing on seasonal ingredients.

The beef will be sourced from the group’s family farms in Melrose, Scottish Borders, and dry-aged on site.

Signature dishes include fillet of Scottish Luing beef with smoked eel, beef bourguignon pie, and a Porterhouse to share.

Other menu highlights include king scallops with crispy Thai chicken wing, a Japanese smashed burger, and maple and soy baked swede.

Bar snacks such as hand-raised game pie with date ketchup, ox cheek toastie, and popcorn shrimp with sesame and yuzu will also be available.

Drinks will range from craft beers and a curated wine list to cocktails like Lynchburg Lemonade and Freehouse Cola.

The Ox will be open seven days a week, catering to a variety of occasions, from quick drinks to special celebrations.

Christmas menus and group bookings are now available.

To celebrate its opening, The Ox is offering 50 per cent off food from October 14 to October 27.

This offer is valid on reservations only, which can be made via The Ox's website.

Customers need to quote "SOFTLAUNCH50" in the booking notes to avail the discount.

A statement from The Ox reads: "As well as the main bar and snug, there’s a mezzanine restaurant and rooftop terrace, as well as private events space, The Playroom.

"With top-notch food at the heart of The Ox, expect a modern, elevated British menu, peppered with Asian accents.

"The menu at The Ox puts the spotlight on seasonal British ingredients, with beef sourced ethically and sustainably from the group’s family farms in Melrose on the Scottish borders, and dry-aged on site."
