A luxury travel company hosted a charity golf tournament to raise awareness of its new school bursary scheme.

Winged Boots, based in Essex, hosted the tournament at Heron Country Club, in Brentwood, on October 2.

The event aimed to raise awareness of its 1622 Corporate Partnership, which allows local businesses to fund full bursaries at Brentwood School for high-achieving students.

The tournament attracted Essex businesses, Brentwood School alumni, and celebrities such as boxing promoter Eddie Hearn and ex Spurs, Manchester United and England footballer Teddy Sheringham, who are clients of the travel company.

The participants played 18 holes of golf, with some holes named after former Brentwood pupils.

The fifth hole paid tribute to Sila, the foundation’s first funded bursary student.

Winged Boots was the first business to fund a full bursary at Brentwood School, with a student from Marshall Park Academy in Romford having enrolled at Brentwood in September.

Heron Country Club, which hosted the day complimentary, is the second local business to join the corporate partnership and will also fund full bursaries for pupils at Brentwood School.

The 1622 Corporate Partnership was created in collaboration with Brentwood School Foundation 1622 Club, Brentwood School’s charitable arm, whose name pays homage to the date on which Brentwood’s statues celebrating its values -Virtue, Learning, and Manners - were signed.

Winged Boots co-founders Daniel and David Ox were both beneficiaries of similar bursaries at Brentwood School, where they now send their own children.

David Ox, co-founder and managing director at Winged Boots, said: "The 1622 Corporate Partnership is deeply personal to both my brother and me, and it’s an incredible privilege to give children in the local community the opportunity to access such a life-changing education.

"Without a transformative bursary, I wouldn’t have been able to attend Brentwood School myself, so I know firsthand the profound impact it can have.

"At Winged Boots, our mission is to keep raising awareness of this initiative through events like our recent golf day and inspire more local businesses to join us in transforming young lives."
