A popular Indian takeaway in Carshalton has won an award at a prestigious Asian restaurant awards.

The Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA) celebrates the UK’s Pan Asian cuisine industry, bringing together Asian restaurants from across the UK.

Mohini Balti House on 15A Gordon Road was crowned the Surrey Takeaway of the Year Award for 2024.

This year, the winners across 46 categories were honoured in the 2024 awards ceremony, which took place on October 6 at the Royal Lancaster hotel in London, and was attended by celebrity stars Patsy Kensit and Leila Russack.

According to the takeaway, they “use only the freshest and highest quality ingredients to ensure that each dish is packed with flavour and authenticity.”

The owners originally ran a restaurant in Beddington Lane, Croydon, from 1989 before moving to the venture near Carshalton Beeches train station.

Mohini Balti House serves a variety of dishes including tandoori dishes, Mohini baltis, biryani, classic dishes, thali dishes, and more.

The takeaway also won Regional Takeaway of the Year in 2023.

One reviewer on TripAdvisor said: “The only place we would now consider for an Indian takeaway.

“Reasonably priced as well.

“Never had any problem with the time taken to deliver as well.”

Another said: “Every single person in the family loved it and said we've found our new regular.

“Great flavours and very well spiced! Best puri I've had outside India.”
