Chislehurst High Street is set to close next month to make way for a festive Christmas celebration, featuring Santa’s Grotto and over 70 market stalls.

The closure, announced by the London Borough of Bromley, will take place on Sunday, November 24, between 6am and 8pm for The Visit Chislehurst Christmas Festival.

The roads affected by the closure include Chislehurst High Street, between its junction with Willow Grove and Centre Common Road, and Ashfield Road, between its junction with Chislehurst High Street and the mini roundabout junction with Loop Road.

The closures will be indicated by traffic signs.

The council has assured residents that pedestrian access to premises on or adjacent to the closed roads will be always maintained.

Access to properties will be upheld as far as practicable from either side of the closure.

Emergency access will be maintained throughout the duration of the festival.

The order for the road closure comes into effect at 6am on Sunday, November 24, and will end at 8pm the same day.

Taking place along the High Street, the Christmas market will feature over 70 stalls offering everything from hot, freshly cooked food to Christmas decorations, organic toiletries, and preloved children's items.

The Visit Chislehurst bar will be serving mulled wine and other festive drinks.

The Old Chapel will host a variety of activities, including face painting, a cake sale by Welham Jones in aid of Demelza, and stalls from local vendors like Blooming Bubs, Remi Russo Ceramics, and Mama Brown.

The community stage will be buzzing with singing and dancing, thanks to the Michelle Sidwell Academy of Dance, which has organized, sponsored, and will run the performances.

Families can visit the Rotary Club of Chislehurst Christmas Grotto, where kids can meet Santa and even receive a free gift, generously donated by Linklater & Warren Opticians.

With plenty of festive treats, entertainment, and activities, the Visit Chislehurst Christmas Market promises a joyful start to the holiday season.

The London Borough of Bromley has thanked the public in advance for their understanding and cooperation.

The council has also encouraged people to plan their journeys in advance to minimise inconvenience.

Residents and visitors with queries about the road closures are advised to contact the council's Environmental Services Department (Traffic Section) on 020 8313 4231.
