The aftermath of a serious crash in Plaistow has been captured in pictures.
Barking Road A124 has been closed in both directions since around 4.15pm this afternoon (October 15) following the incident.
While the details surrounding the crash have yet to be confirmed by emergency services, pictures taken in the surrounding area have shown the state of the scene.
A maroon-coloured car has been clearly damaged as it sits on the centre island between Barking Road and Tunmarsh Lane in front of a deli cafe.
The airbags inside the vehicle have all deployed, with the front of the car badly mangled and the rear window broken.
Debris can be seen littering the floor surrounding the scene, with what appears to be a car seat laying on the pavement.
It appears from the photos that the car may have also crashed with a street lamp.
Teams of emergency responders including firefighters have been pictured working within a cordon at the scene.
In Greengate Street, several police officers have been seen manning a cordon which has restricted access to traffic and pedestrians.
A resident in the area who has requested to remain anonymous told the Recorder they heard "an almighty bang" at the time of the crash.
A blue tent has been pictured in Tunmarsh Lane near to the junction onto Barking Road.
Transport for London has reported that four bus services have been impacted by the crash.
Routes 5, 115, and 330 towards Canning Town have been diverted via Boundary Road, Boundary Lane, Glen Road, Prince Regent Lane and Newham Way.
Buses are not serving stops in Barking Road from New City Road to Rathbone Market.

The 147 bus route is also on diversion between Prince Regent Lane, Bennett Road, Upton Park and Priory Road in both directions.
Buses scheduled to travel towards Ilford are not serving stops from Newham University Hospital/New Vic College to Upton Park/Green Street.
Buses towards Canning Town are not serving stops from New City Road to Newham University Hospital/New Vic College.
The emergency services have been contacted for a comment.
