The driver of a car has been arrested after a woman died in a crash in Newham.
The 18-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car in Barking Road just before 3.45pm yesterday (October 15).
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended, however, she was pronounced dead shortly after.
Her next of kin have been notified.
The driver of a Nissan Juke, a 45-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was taken to hospital for treatment before being taken into police custody where he remains at this time.
Multiple cordons were put in place and a blue tent was erected in Tunmarsh Lane near to the junction onto Barking Road.
Emergency responders including firefighters were pictured working within a cordon at the scene.
A maroon-coloured car was left damaged as it sat on the centre island in front of a deli cafe.
Debris can be seen littering the floor surrounding the scene, with what appears to be a car seat laying on the pavement.
A resident in the area, who wishes to be kept anonymous, told the Recorder they heard "an almighty bang" at the time of the crash.
Cordons and closures were put in place as the incident was dealt with however these have since been lifted.
