A well-loved Indian restaurant run by three brothers in Orpington has won a national award after being recognised for its outstanding work.

The Bombay on Green Street Green was named as one of the top ten restaurants in the Editor’s Choice Category at this year’s Curry Life Awards.

Known for its use of fresh ingredients and efforts to minimise waste, the restaurant has become a favourite among locals.

Speaking after the ceremony, owner MJ Miah said: “We’re thrilled to be a part of the Curry Life Awards, and it’s great to see that level of appreciation from customers for our food.

“We continually strive to provide high standards. It’s all about offering our customers something special.”

The Bombay’s Google reviews stand at an impressive 4.8 out of five, with one visitor commenting: “Our favourite place to come for food, delicious food, great price and excellent service especially from Ali.

“Owner is always extremely welcoming and personable and we love coming here.

The Curry Life Awards are a major event in the British curry industry, celebrating both culinary excellence and the significant contribution curry restaurants make to the economy, with the sector generating over £4 billion annually.

The awards ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting MP, and Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE, founder of Cobra Beer.

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting MP, said: “Congratulations to everyone for their success at these awards.

“The hospitality industry has an enormous contribution to make to our country. But there’s something more fundamental about what the hospitality industry does, and what curry houses across the country do, which is about bringing people together, making connections and creating communities.

“It’s about making sure our high streets are thriving, and where people want to spend time and money and enjoy family and friendship.

“In the budget and beyond we will be doing everything that we can just to support our large businesses, but to support our SMEs too.”
