New luxury flats have gone on sale as part of a historic town hall restoration - but an arts centre in the same building is still to open.

Developer Far East Consortium (FEC) has unveiled ‘The Lofts’, four individually-designed duplex apartments as part of the restoration and regeneration of the Grade II-listed Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End.

Officially launching on Saturday (October 19), The Lofts offers an opportunity to live within one of London’s most historic buildings.

The building dates back to 1935 and its restoration was begun in December 2017 by Hong Kong developer FEC, after it won the tender to secure the site’s long-term future.

The plan was to convert the Art Deco building into a boutique hotel and deliver 146 flats within the grounds, as well as the arts centre and other community facilities.

However the progress of the arts centre remains uncertain, with events and exhibitions moved to libraries.

The developer said earlier this month that it remains “wholly committed” to delivering an arts centre after pressure from politicians over delays, blaming "significant market challenges".

The Lofts are designed by Make Architects, and combine modern living spaces with the preserved art deco features of the original building, FEC said.

The four two-bedroom duplex flats start from £799,950.

The main bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the flats include skylights, private terraces, timber floors and Siemens kitchen appliances.

There are also communal gardens, a 24-hour concierge service and secure bike storage.

He added: "The Town Hall holds significant cultural value to the local community, and we are committed to preserving its character while ensuring it continues to serve as a vibrant community hub.

“By blending the heritage of the original building with the advantages of contemporary living we wanted to give our residents a truly unique lifestyle offering.

"The Lofts provide just that—beautifully restored apartments that honour the building’s history while offering state-of-the-art design and convenience.

"Residents will enjoy carefully crafted interiors, communal spaces, and a lifestyle that connects them to the heart of Crouch End’s cultural scene.”
