Investigators collecting evidence linked to a crash in Eltham that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn baby have outlined tyre skid marks in the road.
Yellow markings have been sprayed around tyre marks on the A20, indicating the events leading up to the horror crash.
The marks are believed to be evidence from the incident which took place near to the junction of Kidbrooke Park Road at around 6.15pm on October 17.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed on October 18 that it will be investigating after it was revealed an unmarked police car was involved.
In a statement, the watchdog said investigators have "begun gathering evidence" from the scene.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we have started an independent investigation into the circumstances of a fatal collision involving Met Police in south east London last night (17 October).
“We understand that the driver, and sole occupant, of the vehicle was a heavily pregnant woman. Ambulance and fire services attended, and she was given treatment.
“The woman and her baby sadly both died.
“We sent investigators to the scene and post-incident process to begin gathering evidence. Our investigation is in the very early stages.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died and all of those affected by this tragic incident.”
