A man is seriously injured after a crash which shut the M11 for hours.
The M11 was shut Northbound between J5 A1168 Chigwell Lane (Loughton) and J6, heading towards junction 27 on the M25 today (October 24).
Emergency services shut off the road after a man was seriously injured to his leg, the East of England Ambulance Service said.
Ambulances were called just before 2.30pm.
A spokesperson said: “An ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
"An adult man was transported by road to The Royal London Hospital for treatment for a serious lower leg injury."
Essex Police added that the man sustained “serious injuries” and that the road was shut in both directions while emergency services worked to “make the road safe”.
Congestion was also at J4 (North Circular Road) with delays along local routes as traffic was diverted.
One lane remains closed at the time of publication.
