On Friday the 18th of September, the whole of Merchant Taylors’ School boarded three trains, to attend the triennial service, held at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Before moving to Moor Park in 1993, the school was located in the City of London with St Paul’s.
The triennial service is held every three years, to show pupils, staff and parents, the connection that the school once had with St Paul’s.
Students went to school in the morning, and after having a very early lunch, left the school in three groups to go to St Paul’s via train, the first group leaving at around 10AM.
Getting off at Barbican station on the Metropolitan line, students then walked to St Paul’s, escorted by the teachers.
The service started at 2PM and was filled with hymns and readings.
Hymns were led by the choir and both students and staff contributed to the readings.
The orchestra provided the music to accompany the hymns.
“It was amazing to go to St Paul’s and attend this whole school event”, says Xavier Ward a student at Merchant Taylors’.
As the service takes place every three years, every student gets to attend at least once, with some getting the chance to attend twice.
