A man has been left seriously injured after a glass bottle was allegedly smashed onto his face in a suspected hate crime attack.
The victim was walking along Homerton High Street at 5.15am yesterday (October 27) when he was verbally abused by an unknown woman.
Police say a glass bottle smashed on his face, and the woman then left the scene.
The man took himself to hospital with serious injuries to his face.
At this early stage in the investigation, the assault is being treated as a hate crime.
While no arrests have been made yet, the Metropolitan Police has launched an appeal to identify a woman in connection with the attack.
The Met said: “Detectives are now appealing for the public’s help and have today released an image of a woman who they would like to speak with in connection with the investigation.”
If you recognise her or have any information which could assist the investigation, contact police by calling 101 or message @MetCC on X and quote CAD 1890/27Oct.
