A man has died in hospital after he was stabbed on a residential road in Balham.
The incident happened in Laitwood Road near Ormeley Road at 6am yesterday (October 28).
Officers attended and the victim was found with knife injuries and taken to hospital for treatment.
In a new update today (October 29), the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the man later died in hospital.
A 21-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, however this has now been changed to on suspicion of murder.
The suspect remains in police custody and investigations into the attack continues.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “On Monday October 28, at 6am police were called to Laitwood Road, SW12 following reports of a stabbing.
“Officers attended the scene and found a man with stab injuries. He was taken to hospital where, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he sadly later died.
“Enquiries are ongoing to identify him and locate his next of kin.
“Prior to this, a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The arrest has now been updated to suspicion of murder and he remains in custody. An investigation continues.”
