An Asian restaurant in Brick Lane has been crowned London's restaurant of the year at an awards ceremony.
Indian and Bangladeshi eatery Masala was shortlisted and presented with the London Restaurant of the Year accolade by the Bangladesh Caterers Association at the O2 on October 28.
Rayman Miah, manager of Masala, said: “We are delighted to be recognised by the Bangladesh Caterers Association and are so proud to have won this award against some of the region’s greatest curry houses”.
His staff "always try to provide perfect service”, he told this paper.
“We are simply a lovely restaurant, with fantastic staff in a great location”.
Rayman puts part of Masala’s success down to its location in Brick Lane, where art displays and a host of multi-cultural restaurants accompany the recent award winner.
“Spitalfields has seen increased business over the years," said Rayman.
“There’s so much to see now, so much art, markets, food spots, even the Jack the Ripper tours. It is now booming."
He added that Masala serves a mix of “loyal customers and lots of tourists”, providing the restaurant with “so much feedback”.
