The growing popularity of Cheerleading within the Uk is resulting in an increase in opportunities for enthusiastic cheerleaders across the nation. Local team ‘Twisted Cheer and Dance’ in Kings Langley has made their mark in the USA, placing in the top 10 teams in the Summit Championships in Florida in May 2024. Since then, the local club has received two invitations to compete in Florida in 2025, in both the Summit and the World Championships. This is an exciting opportunity for those involved, and displays the growing interest in Cheerleading across the UK. With Cheerleading clubs being introduced across the country, it is probable that cheerleading as a sport in England will continue to grow in popularity for the foreseeable future. This is exciting news for people of all ages that wish to include themselves in the excitement of this up and coming sport, with the opportunity to take part in it at an international level. Hundreds of National teams also compete in over 60 competitions around the country every year, with these numbers increasing by the second. If competitions aren’t for you, there are also local opportunities for recreational and developmental classes for those wanting to get into cheerleading for the first time. The recent interest in cheerleading has even resulted in recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), meaning that in future years we may even be seeing Cheerleading as a sport in the Olympic Games.
