A man armed with knives stole expensive Rolex watches from people in the London Underground.
Muridi Bahdon, 24, has been jailed for eight years after threatening victims with the weapons and then stealing or attempting to steal their watches.
Inner London Crown Court heard how on July 1, 2023, one victim was at Earls Court waiting to pay for some items when he was approached by Bahdon, who was brandishing a large knife.
Bahdon demanded the victim handed over his Rolex and then lunged towards him with the knife as the man tried to fend him off.
The victim then fled to behind the shop counter where he was able to call the police while Bahdon fled.
Three days later on July 4, another victim was on a Tube heading towards Sloane Square.
As he arrived at Victoria station, Bahdon boarded the train and sat next to him.
He then noticed the thief looking at his watch and decide to leave the train at Sloane Square as he felt uncomfortable.
But as he looked back, he saw Bahdon rushing towards him and as he grabbed the victim’s shirt and pulled out a knife.
In an attempt to escape, the man almost tore his shirt off his body and injured his head, shoulders and leg.
He was taken to hospital but his injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing.
Bahdon was eventually caught after an appeal was shared online.
The thief was then linked to another robbery on the London Underground on August 20, 2022.
While on a tube from Earls Court, Bahdon pulled out a folded knife and told the victim “I’m a killer”.
Fearing for his life, the man handed over his Rolex worth around £10,000.
Bahdon was charged on August 3, 2023, with two counts of attempted robbery, one count of robbery two counts of threatening a person with an offensive weapon, and possession of an offensive weapon.
On Tuesday (October 22), he was sentenced to eight years imprisonment with an extended period of five years on licence.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Steve Faulkner said: “Bahdon is a calculating and dangerous offender whose actions will have a life-long impact on his victims. I am glad to see this sentence imposed for his actions and hope this will go some way in helping the victims get closure from these incidents.
“His brazen and determined level of violence were carried out in public, CCTV heavy settings, meaning we could quickly capture and circulate images to our policing counterparts and the public.”
