Residents are unhappy with an Ilford takeaway's plans to extend its opening hours.
Miami Crispy, in Claybury Broadway, Clayhall, has applied for a licence to allow later opening hours, but faces objections from residents.
The takeaway chain, located in Claybury Broadway, Clayhall, submitted an application last month for a licence to remain open until midnight.
One resident who submitted a formal objection wrote: "Extending the shop’s hours will likely worsen public nuisance issues that are already affecting local residents, including noise, litter, and parking difficulties."
A petition to "relocate and enforce strict rules against antisocial behaviours at Miami Crispy Clayhall" is being led by Razmana Hafiz and has gained more than 400 signatures since being set up earlier this year.
It claims residents have been met by “rising antisocial behaviours and unsettling confrontations” from Miami Crispy’s customers.
The petition describes Clayhall as a "dumping ground for Miami Crispy's containers".
Since the opening of the restaurant in July, Razmana claims that Clayhall has faced issues including “increased congregation and antisocial behaviour, litter and vandalism, and public safety risks”.
The Recorder has seen a letter by Ilford North MP Wes Streeting, who has also objected to the licence application and has encouraged residents to submit their objections as well as continuing to report any instances of littering and fly-tipping in the area.
A member of Miami Crispy's management expressed surprise at residents' opposition.
They said: “The intention is not to be open until midnight every day, but just to be able to serve customers responsibly who order around 11pm.
“After a crazy first month of business, it is a lot quieter and calmer now, but I could see why it was a scary first month for residents.
"No music will be played after 11pm and we will encourage crowds to disperse.
"We already pay for more bins than we need to."
