A Croydon man is fighting for his life after a serious crash in Sussex yesterday.

The two-vehicle crash took place on the A259 in Hooe and left three others with critical injuries.

The crash occurred around 11.20am on November 7, when a black Range Rover travelling eastbound between Pevensey Roundabout and Little Common Roundabout crashed with a grey Mercedes Sprinter van coming from the opposite direction.

Inside the Range Rover were a 35-year-old woman from Eastbourne, who was driving, a 32-year-old man from Croydon, and an 18-year-old woman also from Eastbourne.

Both the driver and the Croydon man suffered life-threatening injuries, while the younger passenger sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The sole occupant of the Mercedes, a 59-year-old man from Cambridgeshire, also remains in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Police have launched an investigation into the crash and all four individuals remain in hospital as of now.

The incident led to the closure of this section of the A259 for several hours, causing significant disruption in the area.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Rosie Newman, of the Serious Collision Investigations Unit, said: “We acknowledge the inconvenience this significant road closure will have caused to many motorists, however it is vital that we secure all available evidence from the scene as early as possible to assist with our investigation.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or captured any relevant dash cam or mobile footage to please come forward.”
