London Ambulance Service has issued a statement after a child was killed by a falling tree branch in Banstead.
The incident happened in Grove Place near the junction with Carshalton Road shortly after 4pm yesterday (November 9).
Officers, London Ambulance Service crews and London Fire Brigade were called to the scene.
An ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
The child was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, however, they died from their injuries shortly after.
Police are in the process of ensuring that all family members have been informed.
The incident is not believed to be suspicious, however enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.
A report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.51pm on Saturday 9 November to reports of an incident in Grove Place, Little Woodcote.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and London’s air ambulance.
“We treated a child at the scene before taking them to hospital.”
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Emergency services were called shortly after 1600hrs on Saturday, 9 November, to a child struck by a falling tree branch in Grove Place near the junction with Carshalton Road, Banstead.
"Officers attended along with London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.
"Sadly, the child died from their injuries.
"Officers are in the process of ensuring that all family members have been informed.
"The incident is not believed to be suspicious, however enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.
"A report will be prepared for the coroner in due course."
