A man has been jailed after four-year-old child had a lit cigarette flicked in their face in Stratford.
Stegan Modiga, 27, was arrested in Stratford Town Centre on October 31 after he spat in the eye and mouth of officers.
Modiga was approached when officers on patrol were flagged down and told of a man carrying out an assault.
When they approached him and tried to get his full details, he spat on an officer, and he was arrested for assaulting an emergency worker.
The man was taken into custody and charged for the assault, as well as two further incidents in June in which he flicked a lit cigarette on a child and spat in another victim’s face.
He was found guilty on November 1 at Willesden Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to 24 weeks.
Chief Inspector Sarah Jackson said: “This individual has demonstrated several clear incidents of violence to the general public and has a complete disregard for the law.
“Assaulting police officers in any form will not be tolerated.”
