A cyclist has been taken to hospital with a head injury following a crash with a car at a busy junction in Lower Clapton.

Emergency services were called to the scene today (November 11) at 8.12am at the junction of Lea Bridge Road and Chatsworth Road.

Police officers and an ambulance crew attended, finding a 25-year-old male cyclist with a head injury.

He was taken to the hospital, where his injuries were confirmed as non-life-threatening or life changing.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area due to traffic delays, and bus routes 55, 56, and 308 were temporarily diverted.

Police cordons have since been removed, and bus services have returned to normal.

Police are appealing for any information related to the incident.

Witnesses are asked to call 101 and reference CAD 1313/11Nov.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “At 8.12am on Monday, November 11, police were called to reports of collision between a car and a cyclist in Lower Clapton, E5.

“Officers attended the scene with London Ambulance Service at the junction of Chatsworth Road and Lea Bridge Road and found a male cyclist who had sustained a head injury.

“The male, aged 25, was taken to hospital where his injuries were confirmed as non-life threatening or life changing.

“Police cordons which were put in place have now been removed, and bus routes which were diverted are now running as normal.

“Anyone who has information that could help police should call 101 ref CAD 1313/11Nov.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.11am this morning (11 November) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Lea Bridge Road and Chatworth Road, Lower Clapton.

“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.

“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”
