Police have put in place a 'stop and search' order and have been granted additional powers after a stabbing in Finsbury Park.

Officers were called to Clifton Terrace in Finsbury Park after reports of a male stabbed at 2.40pm today (November 11).

Police arrived at the road, next to Finsbury Park Station bus stop, and found a male injured with stab wounds.

He was treated by the London Ambulance Service and has been taken to hospital where his condition is being treated as potentially life changing.

Now police have been granted additional stop and search powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994.

With these powers, officers will be able to stop and search anyone within the area without needing to have reasonable grounds to do so.

It will cover both the Finsbury Park and Tollington wards until 3am on Tuesday (November 12).

A male was arrested and taken to a north London police station, where he remains in custody.

A section of the road is currently closed off around a parade of shops and police are appealing for witnesses.
