A man has been taken to hospital after an explosion in Dagenham.
Six fire engines and 40 firefighters were at Crescent Road after a wooden shed in a garden of a semi-detached house was alight yesterday (November 11) at 7.52pm.
The shed was destroyed in the blaze and a man was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
Firefighters removed four gas cylinders from the scene and cooled it down as a precaution.
Eventually, the fire under control by 9.11pm.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters attended a fire on Crescent Road in Dagenham yesterday (11 November).
“A single-storey wooden shed in the rear garden of a semi-detached house was destroyed by fire. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
“Firefighters removed four gas cylinders from the scene and cooled to an ambient temperature as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
“The Brigade’s Control Officers received around 10 calls about the fire.
“The Brigade was called at 1952 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Dagenham, Ilford, Hornchurch and Barking fire stations to the scene. The fire was brought under control by 2111.
“The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.”
