People curious about going to the gym, taking up swimming, water polo, table tennis or even pickleball can take part in free taster sessions at leisure centres.

The open weekend at Barnet's five centres will take place on Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24, 2024.

Day passes can be booked from November 21 by visiting www.better.org/open-weekend.

The centres will offer taster fitness classes, gym sessions, and swimming sessions.

They will also be collecting food items for Chipping Barnet Foodbank.

Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre will have swimming taster sessions, a water polo taster, a water safety talk, gym challenges, gym class tasters, pickleball, table tennis, swim, and gym use.

A nutritional talk with a personal trainer and training advice will also be available.

Finchley Lido Leisure Centre will offer adult swim coaching, and the adult and junior gym will be extended all day.

New Barnet Leisure Centre will have tennis on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm, a power pump exercise class at 10.15am on Saturday, and a swim for all session in the main pool from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday.

Hendon Leisure Centre will provide adult gymnastics, group cycle, gym floor classes, a gym floor challenge, and gym use.

Burnt Oak Leisure Centre will offer pickleball from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday and free soft play from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday.

This is the second year of Better's annual open weekend initiative.

"They are free and fantastic fun, so we urge as many people as possible to come along and see what's on offer."
