Sutton Council has confirmed that there are no plans to change the use of the closed Morrisons store.
The council has confirmed that no applications have been received by the council while the Sutton Morrisons store on 31 High Street undergoes maintenance work.
The store closed in early July and has been closed ever since.
Last month, Morrisons confirmed that its Sutton store would not open any time soon due to “significant” issues that have been discovered.
Experts have carried out detailed surveys which revealed some underlying issues that Morrisons have been investigating further.
As a result, Morrisons has confirmed that the store will remain closed for an “extended period” while they look at the options for the store.
A spokesperson for Sutton Council said: “The officers in the Council's Licensing and Planning Teams have confirmed that no applications have been received for the Morrisons site.
“Nor have there been any enquiries about the existing licences for the store.”
A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “The Morrisons in Sutton closed for maintenance work in July.
“Since then, detailed surveys have uncovered some underlying issues which we've been investigating further.
“Unfortunately, it has become apparent that these issues are significant and as such the store will remain closed for an extended period whilst we look in detail at the options for the store.
“We are very sorry for the impact this has had on our customers in the Sutton area, and we will give a further update as soon as we can.”
