A 12-year-old girl who was crushed to death by a tree branch in Banstead last week has been named and pictured in a fundraiser.
Brooke Etherington had been in Grove Place near the junction with Carshalton Road shortly before 4pm on November 9 when she was struck by a falling branch.
The Sun was told by a local resident how they "heard screams" after seeing the group walk down a path.
They added: “One of her friends shouted, ‘My friend has been crushed. Please help me’."
“I feel very sad, but I couldn’t save her. I knew she’d already gone.”
Brooke is thought to have spent around an hour and a half under the object whilst emergency services tried to safely release her, MyLondon has reported.
A GoFundMe page has been set up addressed to "Our beautiful Brooke", who was due to turn thirteen just days after her death.
It reads: "On Saturday 9th of November our family’s life changed forever when we lost our beautiful Brooke to a tragic accident.
"A mum lost a daughter a brother lost a big sister and a family lost a shining light in our lives that will never be replaced.

"Nothing can ever bring our Brooke back and I know times are hard but even if you could just donate a £1 it would mean the world."
The fundraiser has already more than doubled its goal of £2,500, receiving £5,912 from 233 donations.
A balloon release has been scheduled on the day of what would have been Brooke's thirteenth birthday, November 13.
