As the evenings get longer and the festive season draws ever nearer, what could be better than sitting round a classic pub fire with a drink in hand?
We have found four cosy pubs in Dagenham, all of which feature a fireplace and have an average rating of four stars or higher on Google or TripAdvisor.
The Pipe Major
“Built with family in mind”, according to its website, The Pipe Major in Dagenham features a classic pub fireplace, which contributes to the “great atmosphere” noted by multiple reviewers.
"We've got everything you need to enjoy the colder months in comfort", the website claims. "Cheers to slowing down and enjoying each season to its fullest."
The pub averages 4.1 stars from more than 2,000 reviews on Google and four stars from more than 600 reviews on TripAdvisor, more than 280 of these rating the pub as ‘excellent’.
The Cross Keys
This Grade II listed building dates back to the 15th century.
The Cross Keys averages a 4.3 star rating from more than 160 Google reviews, many of which praise its atmosphere and service.
A review on Google credits its “great atmosphere” to the wooden beamed ceilings and brick fireplaces.
Another reviewer labelled the pub as simply “old school Dagenham”.
The East Brook
This Grade II listed boozer has a rating of four stars on TripAdvisor and 4.2 on Google reviews.
The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) calls it "the finest 1930s pub in London" with the Oak Bar containing a "Tudor-arched" fireplace.
CAMRA said the Dagenham Road pub "is a truly remarkable survivor which will repay the trek out to see it".
Beacon Tree
“Brilliant entertainment and an excellent atmosphere” is a reoccurring theme in reviews of The Beacon Tree. This has seen the pub average 4.2 stars on Google and 4 stars on TripAdvisor.
One reviewer said: “I spent a Sunday afternoon here watching football. Good atmosphere and a good pub to watch the games in."
