A new preschool is coming to Collier Row next year.

Puddleducks preschool plans to open in January 2025 at The North Romford Community Centre.

The preschool will offer weekday 9am to 3pm sessions for children aged between two and five years old.

Owners Julia Payne and Dawn Samboer want to create a welcoming and “almost old-fashioned” approach.

The pair initially worked together in childcare in Elm Park. They spoke to The Recorder regarding the start of their new journey.

“We found out a nursery was closing in Collier Row, so we got in touch to take its place and decided to start this new adventure together.

"That’s how Puddleducks came about.

“It’s basically going to be a very relaxed and very family orientated setting. We’re going to be very inclusive and welcome all children regardless of ability."

On what sets Puddleducks apart from other preschools, Dawn said: “We’ve got a huge, enclosed garden and we will be using lots of natural resources for our activities. We’re embracing a natural approach to learning.

“We are very welcoming and open. We want to create a relaxed and homely setting.

“We want to create an almost old fashioned setting, you know when you were younger and you used to play with things your nana and grandad had rather than your regular modern toys."

Julia said they are excited to get started and that an open day is being held on December 16 for parents to come and visit.

Julia explained, “We will be working extremely closely with families and parents which we feel, from experience, doesn’t always happen. This is very important."
