Drivers are being warned of major delays on the M2 after a “serious” crash involving a pedestrian on the coastbound carriageway.

The crash happened between junction 5 (Stockbury) and junction 6 (Faversham) at around 8.10pm yesterday (November 20).

Emergency services attended, and the coastbound carriageway was closed overnight.

As of today (November 21), the M2 remains closed coastbound between junctions 5 and 6. Lane 2 of the London-bound carriageway is also closed.

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and check the Highways website for travel updates.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Drivers are warned of significant delays on the M2 following a serious collision involving a pedestrian on the coastbound carriageway.

“The collision happened at around 8.10pm on Wednesday 20 November, between junction 5 near Stockbury and junction 6 for Faversham.

“Police and other emergency services are at the scene and the coastbound carriageway is expected to remain closed for several hours.

“Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and are urged to check for travel updates on the Highways website.”
