The winners of the Mayor of Lewisham's Business Awards 2024 have been revealed, celebrating 15 outstanding businesses and individuals across the borough.

The awards ceremony, held at Catford's Broadway Theatre, saw nearly 300 attendees and received record-breaking public engagement with almost 9,000 votes and nominations.

The awards celebrate Lewisham's independent, diverse, and innovative business community, recognising organisations that contribute to local economic growth and community benefit.

The winners were:

Best visitor attraction: Beckenham Place Park Mansion

Best sustainable business: Zer0 Waste Corner

Best online business: Kids Black History Classroom

Best community contribution: Ignition Brewery

Best new business: The Vegan Patty Lady

Best in creative sector: D&B Academy of Performing Arts

Best restaurant: Gurkha’s

Best high street: Bunka

Best café: Dolce Dessert and Café

Best bar, pub or nighttime economy business: Blythe Hill Tavern

Best hair and beauty: Scissors and Nails

Best independent food retailer: Turkish Food Centre

Best independent business: Kindred Yoga

Best market: Horniman's Museum Sunday Market

Mayor of Lewisham Brenda Dacres said: "It is a pleasure to gather again in the Broadway Theatre for Lewisham’s annual business awards.

"Lewisham has a resilient, unique, and authentic economy. Last night, we celebrated businesses who play a central role in creating a stronger, fairer economy.

"Congratulations to every nominee and every winner.

"Lewisham is proud of you."

Councillor Kim Powell, cabinet member for business, jobs, and skills, highlighted the council’s ongoing commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs: "Over the past year we have seen remarkable achievements from our local business community.

"As a council, we remain committed to supporting our start-ups, our independent businesses, our growing business, and our high streets."

Deputy Mayor for Growth and Business, Howard Dawber, added: "Through the Mayor of London’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we’ve invested £2.8 million to support Lewisham’s businesses and communities – helping to create over 60,000ft of affordable workspace, safeguarding jobs and offering 275 businesses across the borough free advice."

The event also featured performances by IRIE! Dance Theatre and the Lewisham Goes Gospel choir, with hosting by Robbie Gee and Eddie Nestor MBE.
