The Old Coulsdon Christmas Lights Switch-On event has been cancelled due to bad weather.
The Old Coulsdon Christmas Lights event was set to take place tomorrow (November 23) at the junction of Court Avenue and Coulsdon Road.
However, the Christmas Lights to Old Coulsdon Committee has announced that the event will no longer be taking place.
The committee were warned off all day rain and high winds tomorrow.
As this is an outside public event, the bad weather would be dangerous with it involving gazebos and electrical equipment.
The committee said that this is a decision that they have not taken lightly.
A spokesperson from the Christmas Lights to Old Coulsdon Committee said: “We are extremely sad to let you all know the Old Coulsdon Christmas Lights event planned for tomorrow, 23rd November, has been cancelled.
“The Met Office have warned us of all day rain and high winds for tomorrow, which could be dangerous for an outside public event involving gazebos and electrical equipment.
“Most of you will know this is our main fundraising event to ensure we can have Christmas Lights so this is not a decision we have taken lightly
“We thank everybody for their understanding and ongoing support.”
