A Greenwich pub is bringing the holiday spirit to life this December with its free Winter Wonderland festival right in the pubs garden.
Across three weekends, The Duke of Greenwich’s garden will transform into a cosy festive haven with twinkling lights, a ski lodge cabin, and lots of activities for all ages.
There’s plenty to enjoy, from craft fairs to food pop-ups and creative cocktails.
Families can even meet Santa Claus every Saturday and Sunday afternoon as he hands out free treats to kids.
You can also explore the cosy winter garden, complete with heaters and festive photo spots.
Throughout December, the pub’s kitchen will also serve a Christmas menu packed with hearty dishes like turkey with pigs in blankets, roasties, and vegan cauliflower wings. Desserts include a rich peanut butter cheesecake.
Jonathan Kaye, Co-Owner and Head of Front of House, said: “We’re thrilled to bring our Winter Wonderland to Greenwich this year. With art, food, drinks, and Santa’s visits, there’s truly something for everyone.
“It’s all about creating memories, whether you’re here with family or friends.”
With no booking or payment needed to attend, the festival is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
Here is a list of what’s on:
November 29–December 1: Arts & Crafts Weekend
The festivities begin with an Arts & Crafts Weekend that transforms the garden into a charming Christmas market. Over 15 local artists and makers will set up festive stalls offering everything from handcrafted jewellery and macrame to ceramics and hand-painted baubles.
There’ll be plenty of inspiration for unique gifts, with photography prints, Lego models, Christmas cards, and decorations on offer. You can sip on mulled cider while browsing, soaking up the festive atmosphere.
For younger visitors, there’s face painting and a gingerbread decorating station.
Adults can join an all-day wreath-making workshop on Saturday, November 30, crafting their own beautiful decorations to take home.
Co-Owner, Jonathan Kaye, said: “This Arts & Crafts Weekend showcases the incredible talent in our community, offering a chance to celebrate creativity while experiencing the winter magic of The Duke.”
December 6–8: Festive foodie pop-up weekend
Head Chef Dan Blucert has created a menu packed with seasonal delights, including spiced Pigs in Blankets, gourmet hot dogs, festive Christmas wraps, and a raclette station for those who love their cheese.
There’ll be plenty of sweet treats too, from traditional mince pies to warm seasonal snacks from local suppliers. To wash it all down, mulled wine and other festive drinks will be on offer.
A live band will provide the soundtrack for the weekend, playing seasonal covers to keep the mood lively. For a bit of fun, guests can try their luck at the Christmas Spinner Game with prizes to win.
Head chef Dan said: “Food brings people together, and Christmas is all about indulgence. We’ve designed a menu that’s rich, comforting, and perfect for sharing with friends and family.”
December 13–15: Festive drinks pop-up weekend
The final weekend is all about drinks, with a creative menu designed to warm the spirits.
Head of Bars Nick Blucert has crafted a selection of festive cocktails, including Sloe Gin Sours, Candy Cane Martinis, and steaming hot chocolates for all ages.
One of the highlights is the “Yorkshire Merry,” a Christmas dinner-inspired Bloody Mary topped with a Yorkshire pudding and roast beef.
There’ll also be mulled cider and craft beers from local breweries like Super Cute in Brixton and Brew by Numbers, Greenwich’s own house beer.
Head of bars, Nick, said: “We’ve created drinks that are fun, festive, and perfect for this time of year. Whether you fancy a creative cocktail or a classic pint, we’ve got you covered.”
