An injunction has been put in place to prevent illegal waste dumping in St Paul’s Cray Hill Country Park – banning people from entering the park in vehicles via a nearby traveller site.

This follows legal action taken on Thursday (November 21) after the council found that the parkland was being used as an unlawful waste transfer station.

The order, granted by Bromley County Court, is in place until October 24, 2025 unless revoked by further court action.

It strengthens existing laws by allowing arrests under specific conditions.

The injunction includes a ban on entering the country park via the Star Lane Roma Traveller site by vehicle for any reason, or by foot for purposes such as fly-tipping, burning waste, or burying controlled waste.

Investigations revealed that waste was being brought into the park by unknown vehicles and dumped.

Some of this rubbish was then burned.

Evidence showed the vehicles accessed the park through a specific plot on the Star Lane Roma Traveller site.

The council is continuing its investigation into the incidents to ensure the parkland is protected from further harm.

A Bromley council spokesperson said: “We will use all legal tools available to stop fly tipping and this court injunction significantly increases the legal protections for this precious site.

“It is serious matter, with our investigation continuing currently and the council’s legal action designed to bring the illegal fly-tipping and burning to a stop, including those using vehicles in the park as well.”
