A 16th century museum and manor house in Tottenham is set to close next week for restoration works. 

Bruce Castle Museum & Archive will be closed to customers from November 25 to undergo essential works as part of a major building project. 

Works on the Grade I listed building began on May 20 with support from a Museum Estate and Development (MEND) fund worth £588,000.

The money has been put towards stabilising structural issues in the East Wing of the venue, repairing historic fabric and updating fire protection measures among other things. 

An 18th century room is set to be turned into a new public space for exhibitions, providing visitors with an enhanced access to the museum's archives. 

The Winter closure is set to last until January 6 to allow for the latest phase of the works.
