Two companies have been prosecuted by Bromley Council for placing unlicensed skips on roads in the borough.
The skips were found on Keedonwood Road and Homesdale Road, both located in Bromley, in June 2024.
After failing to pay the issued fixed penalty notices, the companies were subsequently prosecuted.
J&H Haulage Ltd was fined £150 for the skip found on Keedonwood Road, while Hinton Skips UK Ltd faced a penalty of £731 for the skip placed on Homesdale Road.
In total, fines and costs amounted to nearly £900.
A spokesperson for Bromley Council highlighted the importance of licensing for safety and compliance, stating: "Unlicensed skips can pose a danger to both residents and passersby.
"Therefore, it is important that companies obtain a licence.
"In these examples, both companies were given the chance to rectify the situation by paying a fixed penalty notice."
The council emphasised that most skip operators follow the law but issued a reminder to ensure compliance, as failure to do so could lead to legal action.
