A girl has been taken to hospital after being bottled in what is believed to be an “antisemitic hate crime” attack near Manor House.
The 16-year-old was walking with a group of schoolgirls through Woodberry Down Estate when a bottle was thrown from the upper floor at 7.44pm yesterday (November 25).
She was struck on the head and taken to hospital, but her injuries are non life-changing.
An investigation is ongoing as police were unable to find the suspect.
Police are treating this incident as a potential antisemitic hate crime.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “At 19:44hrs on Monday, 25 November officers were called to the Woodberry Down Estate in Hackney following reports of an assault.
“A group of schoolgirls had been walking through the estate when a bottle was thrown from the upper floor of a building.
“A 16-year-old girl was struck on the head and was taken to hospital. Her injuries have since been assessed as non-life changing.
“Officers attended the scene to carry out initial enquiries but were unable to locate the suspect. An investigation is ongoing.
“The incident is being treated as a potential antisemitic hate crime.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information about that could assist officers should call 101, providing the reference 6966/26NOV. Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
