I went to a new pizzeria in north London on a sub-zero Thursday, and it truly warmed up my day.

Pizzeria Pellone in East Finchley provided a cosy escape from the winter chill, with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff that made it the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal.

I had heard some good things about this spot, and it delivered in terms of comfort, flavour, and overall experience.

We started the meal with two appetizers: Le Mortadelline and La Frittatina.

The Le Mortadelline were small, savoury parcels of mortadella, each stuffed with a rich, creamy cheese filling.

The La Frittatina, a deep-fried pasta cake, had a crispy exterior and a soft, flavourful interior.

It was light but comforting, and the taste was a lovely surprise, with hints of cheese and seasoning that made it hard to stop at just one bite.

Both starters were great choices, providing a delicious start to what was shaping up to be a very pleasant meal.

For the main course, we were given the opportunity to try a few different pizzas, giving us the chance to sample the variety of flavours Pizzeria Pellone offers.

I had a slice of the classic Margherita, which was both simple and delicious.

The tomato sauce had a tangy freshness to it, and the mozzarella was creamy and perfectly melted, providing a satisfying balance of flavours.

It wasn’t an overly complex pizza, but it was done right, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

We also tried La Enzuccio, which was a bit more adventurous in terms of its toppings.

With a combination of flavours that included rich cheeses and savoury toppings, this pizza stood out for its unique mix.

The crust was again light and perfectly cooked, and the toppings were balanced—each ingredient complemented the others without overpowering the dish.

It was a solid pizza, with just the right amount of variety to keep it interesting.

I also had a bite of the Vegetarian pizza.

Normally, I’m not one for too many veggies on my pizza, and in this case, I ended up picking off the vegetables to create my own version of a Margherita.

The veggie toppings were fresh, but I wasn’t particularly fond of the combination—however, I’m sure those who enjoy a more vegetable-forward pizza would appreciate it.

Once I removed the toppings, I was left with a classic pizza that tasted just as good as the Margherita I had earlier, with the same fresh tomato sauce and creamy cheese.

To finish off the meal, we went for Tiramisu for dessert.

The tiramisu was light yet indulgent, with layers of mascarpone and coffee-soaked sponge.

The balance of sweetness and coffee flavour was just right—not too overpowering—making it the perfect end to a filling meal.

The dessert was satisfying but not too heavy, which left us feeling content without being overly stuffed.

Overall, my visit to Pizzeria Pellone was a delightful experience. The food was tasty and well-prepared, and the friendly service made the meal all the more enjoyable.

The only downside of the evening was that I couldn’t stay there all night and instead had to face the freezing cold once I left.
