Labour has held a seat in a by-election triggered after the former council leader left to work for London's mayor.
James Potts was elected as a councillor for Junction ward, Archway, in a by-election on Thursday (November 28) with 785 votes.
Jackson Caines, for the Islington Independents, received 550 votes, with the Green Party's Devon Osborne coming third with 219.
The by-election was triggered after Kaya Comer-Schwartz, who was both a Junction ward councillor and Islington council leader, stepped down in October to join the London Mayor's office.

Posting on X, Cllr Potts said: "I am deeply honoured and delighted to have been elected as the Labour councillor for Junction Ward in Islington! The hard work starts now!"
The Liberal Democrats' Rebecca Jones received 156 votes.
John Wilkin, the Conservative Party candidate, received 113 votes and Independent Brian Potter got 97.
Bill Martin from The Socialist Party of Great Britain came last with 22 votes.
There was a total turnout of 21.33 per cent, with 1,946 votes cast and four rejected ballots.
