A 20mph speed limit is set to be introduced on several roads in Sutton.
The roads affected by the proposed order include Albert Road, Alfred Road, Gauntlett Road, Reading Road, Victoria Road, and sections of Langley Park Road.
The new limit will apply to Albert Road between Carshalton Road and Morland Road, and Langley Park Road between Carshalton Road and Morland Road.
The proposed change is an amendment to the existing moving traffic restrictions under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The order has been issued by the London Borough of Sutton.
On the Sutton Council website, a spokesperson said: “We believe that 20mph has huge benefits to improving the road safety, including reducing vehicle speeds, creating a safer environment for all road users, and making it easier to walk and cycle in the area. Additionally, it helps improve overall air quality and reduces both the risk and severity of accidents.”
Residents can view the proposed order, along with the council’s statement of reasons for the change, and a map of the affected areas, at the Civic Offices, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, SM1 1EA.
Copies of the documents can also be requested by phoning 020 8770 5000.
People are invited to comment on the proposal via an online consultation response form.
The form can be found on the Sutton Council website under the "Traffic Management Orders, Traffic Public Notices" section, in the "View our Permanent Traffic Order Consultations" area.
Respondents should select "Notices of Proposals" and then "MOSuttSL1183 Morland Road Area 20mph."
Comments can also be sent by post to the TMO Team, Highways and Transport, Kingston & Sutton Shared Environment Service, Civic Offices, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, SM1 1EA.
