One of the most well-known Christmas exhibits to visit is your local town (or village's) Christmas market. Since the 15th of November, Canterbury has opened its annual festive Christmas market. With free attendance, it's cheap to visit and the lack of crowds made it the ideal place to shop for Christmas.
To properly review the market, I paid a visit to see Canterbury's festivities. Before arriving, I was sure to check the online site for the event which allows you to book a pre-paid experience at the Canterbury markets. Each experience was reasonably priced between £5-15 but required understandable booking beforehand. The choice of events varied, making it a fun experience for everyone since there were options for both kids (visiting father christmas) and older people (a VR view of lapland). However, the most interesting event overall was the option to take your pets to see "Santa Paws!"
As soon as I arrived at the Canterbury marketplace, I could see the high-level efforts put into the towns appearance: The shops each had different festive window displays; The market stalls were disguised as winter huts decorated with snow and holly and the whole town was illuminated with strings of bright, festive lights.
This year, the town held over 150 stalls which sold a range of items from foreign cheeses to wooden figures. Surrounding the stalls, there seemed to be a merry atmosphere and people seemed to enjoy the festive event. Additionally, the town offered other fun activities to satisfy any person who visited Canterbury. For people who don't enjoy shopping, Canterbury included multiple fairground rides for all ages.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit as it lived up to it;'s expectation of being "The best Christmas market in Kent." Moreover, I hope to re-visit it!
