The De Luci Fish roundabout in Erith has been destroyed after a crash.
Images show a van had driven into the iconic roundabout this morning (December 2).
One side of the base of the fish statue at the roundabout seems to be damaged, with debris laying all over the ground.
The front of the van also appears to have been dented in the crash.
It is understood that technicians are on site and the statue’s artist Gary Drostle is on his way to assess the damage.
Councillor Nicola Taylor, for the Erith ward, said: “Thank you to everyone who contacted me about the fish roundabout, we have been told that Technicians are on site and the statues artist Gary Drostle is on his way to assess the damage.
“As soon as I know more I'll let you know.”
London Ambulance Service and the Metropolitan Police have been contacted for more information.
